Nick Shigeoka, a young male who racially identifies as fully Japanese, shares his perspective on the future preservation of Japanese American culture.

As a Japanese studies minor, Nick often came across students from Japan. In those interactions, he was told that he wasn't Japanese (at least to their standards), but Nick always saw himself as a blend of American and Japanese culture.

Though the racial demographics of Japanese Americans is shifting, Nick strongly believes that Japanese American culture will always be around. With future technological advancements, Nick believes knowledge about Japanese culture will never be too far away and people will always resonate with their Japanese American identity.

“Knowing that I don't exactly fit into just Japanese or American culture gives me a sense of belonging to both.”
